About church: The first project
Initially, in Pushkin, in the place where during the Second World War, the Nazis carried out mass executions, planned to install a secular monument. Funds collected residents.
There was a competition, won by the project in the form of a monolithic shape, topped with an Orthodox cross.
On the initiative of the St. Sophia Cathedral Archpriest Gennady Zverev, it was decided to build a chapel. May 9, 1994 held its tab. Construction blessed Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, John (Snychev). In memory of the tab was set stone with the inscription: "In this place there will be a monument to the victims of fascism, 1941-1944."
However, due to lack of funds the construction of the chapel was suspended.
Modern building
In 1997, work was resumed on the forces and means of the "Baltic Construction Company." The project, for which a chapel-monument was designed VB Buhaevym with the participation of the architect Elena Leonidovna Svetlova. Support for the construction of St. Petersburg has had a number of organizations.
July 2, 1998, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga (Kotljarov) in the presence of the mayor of the city of Pushkin P. Nikiforov and the governor of St. Petersburg, VA Yakovlevaosvyatil chapel in the name of Grand Prince Igor of Chernigov.
The foundation stone with an inscription was placed in a blind area of the chapel.
In 2001, the chapel was arranged throne, began regular service to the Divine Liturgy.
Architecture, decoration
Single-storey building of the temple in the form of a cross. The main cube on a special drum topped cupola. The drum is the belfry. The bells were brought from the Belgian town of Mechelen (in French - Malin) [1]. Automated system of bells helped establish the experts from France.
Icon of the Holy Great Prince Igor of Chernigov and bas-reliefs in the pediments of the chapel made of stainless steel artist Vladimir Kulikov.
Traditions
The temple is kept "Memory Book" by Pushkin, prepared by the Council of Veterans of the city. This book contains the names of the names of people who died during the occupation. All of them are remembered during services.
Every year on the anniversary of the occupation of the city of Pushkin (17 September 1941) to the base chapel (memorial stone) flowers are laid.
For several years in the temple were "children" worship. Songbirds - students parochial school Cyril and Methodius at St. Sophia Cathedral, the altar altar servers as well as children served.
